I’m Evelina, I am from Lithuania , but graduated in Design from the green island of Ireland, which today I can call my home . My design career began in the North-West of Ireland following a four year degree in Graphic Design. I have never regretted choosing this field of study as I have creative freedom and a love for design. In the words of one philosopher – choose a job you love and you will never have to work another day!
So today , I say to myself with joy , that what I do pleases my heart and soul. Of course It took a number of years, to hone my craft, discover my style, my personal touch and the direction I wanted to go.
The inspiration for ‘Sugar Letters’ came whilst working in a graphic design studio – one of my projects was to create a collection of wedding invitations for a company using their different styles of paper. In 2014, early spring – little did I know out of this project would start a path towards to Sugar Letters! Working on this project fuelled my desire to create unique wedding stationary. It was extremely interesting to combine different textures of papers, lay out the font, I wanted to create a more original design for this project … It was at this stage that I sowed a seed in my heart to set up a design company that specialised in unique wedding stationary. Sugar letters’ was born! Over time this seed grew into a small plant and this year I presented my personal ‘Sugar Letters’ handmade wedding invitations collection at a National Wedding Event in Athlone. I created with great enthusiasm and inspiration a unique collection of invitations that got great attention. That day when I unveiled my unique designs at the wedding event I was the happiest person in the world! Excitement, joy, and even dozens of emotions flooded me as people enquired about my designs. I was extremely happy to have listened to my heart and followed the dream.
I like working together with couples and create invitations, guess their wishes, experiment with papers reflecting their visions and dreams, and in this way to become a valuable part of their celebration. I don’t like to keep track of the latest wedding trends, because I think that wedding invitations should reflect or focus primarily on couple’s style, their vision of the celebrations. Of course, it does not mean that my invitations are old-fashioned, they are just a little different , because it was built together with passion and love.
This is only the beginning of the trip for ‘Sugar letters’. I am not afraid to learn and improve, I believe that there will be a variety of exciting creative projects, new discoveries, and most importantly, the joy that awaits the guest while reading an invitation designed by ‘Sugar Letters’ ….that is guaranteed to leave a smile!
